Toy Blast is a grid-based puzzle game built around matching adjacent, same-colored blocks to clear them from the board. Visually, Toy Blast features some of the cleanest presentation in the tile-matching genre.
Blue, green, red, orange, yellow and purple blocks fill the board in randomized combinations across every stage. Completing the main campaign requires navigating through 1601 stages. To prevent gameplay from feeling repetitive, distinct cube-busting boosters unlock every 20 levels. Introducing fresh tactical tools at these regular intervals helps maintain engagement throughout long play sessions. Early stages function as straightforward tutorials with simple clearing requirements. After completing the first 20 levels, new mechanics begin to surface. Passing Level 100 unlocks real-time online competitive modes, while Level 200 introduces scaling difficulty curves and complex board hazards every 20 steps.
Beyond standard stages, connecting online grants access to competitive Gold Rush events. These side events serve as valuable bonus modes to earn extra resources alongside main campaign progress. Completing a stage awards a base 1-star rating. Clearing the board efficiently or utilizing strategic booster placements yields a three-star rating. Accumulating stars is essential, as higher counts unlock extra lives and powerful boosters necessary for later levels. Finishing a level with minimal block breaks results in a single star, whereas triggering larger chain reactions increases the payout to two stars or more.
Advancing through the campaign requires overcoming dynamic obstacles, which increases strategic depth while keeping gameplay engaging. The progression system stays varied thanks to a broad selection of special boosters: Rocket, Double Rocket, Rocket + Destroyer, Dynamite, Rocket + Dynamite, Matching Color Destroyers, TNT, Dynamite + Destroyer and Double Destroyer. Here is how these boosters function on the board:
Weapons
Rocket 🚀 : Formed by aligning 5 matching blocks. Activating it clears an entire horizontal row or vertical column in a single move.
Double Rocket 🚀🚀 : Generated when matches occur near one another. Aligning two rockets side by side triggers an intersecting cross-directional sweep that clears both vertical and horizontal axes simultaneously.
Rocket + Destroyer 🚀💥 : A Destroyer appears when clearing large clusters of blocks. Combining a Destroyer with an adjacent Rocket places new rockets into every block matching the Destroyer’s color. When triggered, these rockets fire across the board, clearing nearly every remaining block.
Dynamite 💣 : Formed by matching 7 identical blocks. Its explosion clears 6 surrounding blocks, removing 13 blocks in total. Detonating two dynamite boosters clears roughly half of the board.
Rocket + Dynamite 🚀💣 : Combining dynamite with a rocket produces a heavy-duty rocket projectile. This clears an expanded 6-block-wide cross-pattern vertically and horizontally, making it extremely effective for clearing difficult stages.
Matching-Color Destroyers 💫 : Aligning 9 matching blocks grants a targeted color-clearing booster. Activating it destroys every block of that specific color across the board, causing remaining blocks to shift together and set up secondary combination opportunities.
TNT 🎁 : Fusing two dynamite boosters creates a high-yield TNT explosive. Activating TNT instantly clears 36 board blocks—roughly one-third of the active grid. Detonating two TNT boosters makes completing the stage much easier.
Dynamite + Destroyer 💣💫 : Combining dynamite with a Destroyer places active dynamite charges onto every block matching the Destroyer’s color. Detonating this combination clears two-thirds of the active play area.
Double Destroyer 💫💫 : The most powerful combination in the game. Aligning two Destroyers adjacent to each other requires careful board setup, but activating them clears the entire board, clearing even the most challenging stages instantly.
Beyond core block-clearing mechanics, Toy Blast includes several auxiliary game modes.
The game features Star Contests, Treasure Hunts, Climb the Tree and the Daily Wheel.
The Star Contest operates as a real-time online leaderboard event requiring an active internet connection. The objective is to secure the highest cumulative star total while completing levels. First place earns 250 Gold, second place receives 150 Gold and third place gets 50 Gold. Players finishing in the top 20 receive specialized booster items. The Treasure Hunt provides another route to acquire useful rewards. Chests contain rewards such as 50 Gold or 2 hours of unlimited lives. Unlocking the chest requires completing a 10-stage run, as rewards are awarded only after reaching the final objective.
The Climb the Tree event consists of 5 consecutive stages. Reaching the top requires clearing all 5 levels without losing a single attempt, leaving no margin for error. Reaching the summit rewards 100 Gold alongside a collection of boosters. The Daily Wheel offers a free spin opportunity every 24 hours. Rewards consist primarily of boosters, with occasional drops of 10 Gold. In-app purchases are available for purchasing premium currency. Gold can be acquired through online payments to obtain extra lives or continue playing after running out of moves.
Skilled players can often earn enough Gold through standard level clears alone. Efficient play reduces the need for in-app purchases, making optional buys completely secondary for capable players.
