Love it or hate, the FLV Player Full endures. Amazingly, the thing still works even in 2026. Yep, it’s free, it’s the full version and it can be downloaded without feel like you’re about to slip through a paywall.
The download comes in at a tiny 29MB, but after a mercifully short installation process, it only occupies 10MB of space in your C drive.
Inside the installation directory, you’ll find language files for a number of countries, the German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese editions are present. If you were holding out for the Portuguese or Arabic versions I’m afraid your wait won’t be ending here. So far as functionality is concerned. This isn’t the sort of video player that’s going to try and confound you or bombard you with pointless options. Play, pause, skip forward or back, mute, drag the timeline, open or close the window – that’s pretty much all it does.
Double-click on an FLV video, and the player automatically fires up and plays the clip in question.
Naturally, given that nobody makes FLV videos anymore – Adobe abandoned the format back in 2011 when it ended support for Adobe Flash Player – this is a bit of a novelty. There’s an old school feel about the FLV Player which reminds me a lot of Windows Media Player of a by-gone era – the user interface is simple to navigate, and resizing the video is simple; you can just click on a corner of the window and pull the edge of the window out until it reaches your desired size.
