The Smadav 2025 Rev. In versions 15.2 and 15.3, a truly artificial intelligence module (Smadav-AI v1.0) was added to its core for the first time. This means: it tries to recognize “day 0” pests that are not registered in the database from file behavior. That is, it is a new decision-making mechanism that the program uses to detect viruses that it cannot catch by traditional methods. This model looks at what the file does, not its identity. Even if the file is not yet on the list (the 0th day threat), if it exhibits suspicious movements (for example; if the system is trying to change its files or is copying itself secretly), AI will detect it as a threat and stop it.

What is zero-day harmful? This is the first time a virus has appeared, as yet no antivirus company has developed a “panzee” or “definition” for this virus. Smadav-AI aims to capture the file from its behavior while this definition is not yet in the middle.

Another newly added feature is the faster result with file indexing method, using the auto-starting scanning algorithm when USB is inserted. It captures viruses faster than the older version.

In addition, as of early 2025, more than 30,000 new malware signatures were included in the list. In particular, new variations of “shorthcut” (shortcut) viruses have been highlighted. In this way, it continues to provide protection against new threats.

So this added so many features but could it still be better, or what are the pros?

Pros and Cons

Pros

• System resources spend only 5-10 MB of RAM when working idle.
• The second layer compatibility makes it one of the rare software that does not conflict with other antiviruses. Works seamlessly with Windows Defender or Kaspersky at the same time.
• It is powerful at removing viruses that hide and replace your files inside the USB and bringing back the original files.

Cons

• It has no shield against attacks from the browser, phishing sites or files from the internet.
• Instead of “disinfecting” a virus-infected file, it usually quarantines or deletes it directly. So it has no file repair capability.
• Using Smadav as the only protection on the computer is like locking the door and leaving the windows open. Therefore, if you frequently enter the internet, I suggest you change your virus program.
